Upload emails to Really Good Emails
Beefree App is now RGE Studio!
The email design suite you already know and love just leveled up. We’re working hard to update our help center, but you still may see some references to the old product name.
This article applies to the Inspiration Gallery in all plans.
Overview
Really Good Emails is a gallery of curated marketing emails. You can upload an email you built or one from your inbox. Submit it to the public inspiration gallery, or save it to your personal gallery.
To upload, log in with your RGE Studio account. If you don't have an account yet, sign up for a free Starter account. For more about your account and the gallery, see the RGE Studio FAQ.
Your email must be saved as a file. You can upload .eml files or raw HTML files. Most email clients can export a message as an .eml file.
To open your designs, select Open RGE Studio in the top navigation bar. To come back to the gallery, select Get inspired. You can find it on every RGE Studio page except the builder.
Upload your emails
- Select Upload in the gallery's top navigation bar.
- Choose your upload type:
- To submit to the public gallery, go to Contribute to Really Good Emails. Select Upload an email. Our team reviews your email before it appears.
- To save the email to your personal gallery, select Add emails to your account.
- Drag up to 10 files onto the upload area. You can also select Browse for Files to choose them from your computer. Each file processes as you add it. The review screen opens when processing finishes.
- Fill in the details you know. Only the subject line is required. The form is on the left, and the preview is on the right.
- Original Email Subject Line: For .eml files, this field usually fills in automatically. Check that it's correct.
- Describe the email: Add context about what makes this email stand out.
- RGE Categories: Search for and select categories from our list.
- Suggested Tags: Select from the suggestions, or type your own.
-
Company: Search for the brand that sent the email. Only companies already in the gallery appear here. If the brand isn't listed, leave this field blank. For public submissions, our team adds it during review.
- Check the preview. The Desktop tab shows how your email looks. The Code tab shows the HTML, and you can edit it there. We save the HTML exactly as it appears in the Code tab.
- Select Submit Email in the top bar. If you uploaded more than one file, the next file opens. Repeat steps 4 to 6 for each file.
Remove personal details
Real emails often include personal details, such as:
- Names
- Mailing addresses
- Order numbers
- Account links
Before you submit, open the Code tab and remove these details. This is the fastest way to keep them private.
Our team also checks every public submission by hand. We replace personal details with placeholders before an email joins the gallery.
Emails in your personal gallery skip this check, so remove personal details yourself. Only you can see your personal gallery page. Anyone with a direct link can still open an email in it. The Really Good Emails Chrome extension can help you remove personal details.
After you submit
A person on our team reviews every public submission. We're a small team with a long queue, so a review can take a while. You'll get a notification when your email is published.
Emails you save to your personal gallery skip the review. They appear right away. To find them, select your profile icon in the top right. Then select Your Emails to open your personal gallery.
Emails in your personal gallery can't be submitted to the public gallery later. To submit one, upload it again and select Upload an email.
We look at four things during a public review:
- Design: Clear visual hierarchy, intentional spacing, and an easy-to-find call to action.
- Copy: A subject line that makes people want to open the email, and a natural voice.
- Accessibility: Real text instead of text in images, strong color contrast, and useful alt text.
- Strategy: One clear action, with a real reason behind it.
Few emails are strong in all four areas. You can still submit yours. We review the email itself, not the size of the brand.
