Overview

Co-editing lets you work on the same design at the same time as your teammates. You can see other people's edits in real time. You can also collaborate using comments. Co-editing helps your team work more efficiently.

When another person joins a co-editing session, avatars appear at the bottom of the page. You'll also see your own avatar, even when you're editing alone. Each person gets a different avatar color. Their initials also appear on the avatar. This helps you see who else is in the session.

Every change is reflected automatically for everyone in the session.

Up to 5 users can join a co-editing session at a time.

If a sixth person tries to join, they'll see a message that says, "Maximum number of users reached." You'll need to wait until a co-editor leaves before you can join.

How Commenting Works

The Commenting feature uses the same avatar colors as co-editing. You can see an example in the screenshot below. Mary Green's avatar looks the same in the commenting box and on the builder stage.

Undo and Redo

This section applies only when more than one person is co-editing. If you're the only person working on the design, undo, redo, and history work as usual. Learn more in Undo, redo, and history.

RGE Studio turns off undo and redo during a co-editing session. This prevents you from undoing someone else's changes by accident. The change history still shows who made the most recent edits:

For example, without this protection, clicking Undo could remove a change Andrés made. Julia might not notice, especially if they're working in different parts of the design.

Undo and redo become available again once you're the only person left in the builder.

Other Save Methods

If you see different save behavior in the builder, log in with your Business or Enterprise account to use co-editing. Starter and Professional plans use a different save method: autosave without co-editing.
